There has been so much happening in the Cariboo-Chilcotin over the past few weeks that it’s hard to choose where to start!

  • We had a life-altering landslide at Farwell Canyon, and we’d like to send big thanks to our very own BC NDP ministers, Bowinn Ma and Nathan Cullen, for assisting with keeping on top of this and ensuring that everyone in our region stayed safe.

  • We had our 50th BC Day, thanks to BC NDP Premier Dave Barrett. Hopefully, you had a safe, fun, and relaxing holiday.

  • In Williams Lake, we had a wildfire right within our city boundaries. We owe so much gratitude to our first responders and everyone else who kept the fire from reaching our homes.

Michael has had a busy few weeks. The Cariboo Memorial Hospital has been having a tough time with staffing and scheduling. While the other parties hold rallies to complain, Michael has been actually doing the work and having regular meetings and calls with our BC NDP Minister of Health, Adrian Dix. This month, with the help of so many organizations and individuals, we’ve been able to keep the hospital scheduled to be staffed for the first 10 days while hiring 3 more RNs and family doctors! Several of our friends and family have already received their calls that they are being assigned to a family doctor.

This is what action instead of just words does.

John Rustad announced his BC Conservative health care plan today.
Inside their plan: privatizing healthcare with the biggest healthcare cuts in BC history - $4.1 BILLION.
You can’t do this without firing doctors and nurses and causing wait times to skyrocket.

This is at a time when we should be investing more in our healthcare system when we are trying to hire more doctors and nurses and invest in the infrastructure to ensure that we have a quality public healthcare system.

While the province, the Cariboo Regional District, City of Williams Lake, Interior Health Authority, and so many others are working around the clock to prevent extra closures, what does John Rustad want to do?
He wants to privatize our healthcare system, and he wants to take 4.1 BILLION dollars out of it.

That’s John Rustad’s Conservative health care plan. That’s it.

I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty scary!

We need to keep hiring doctors and nurses, not fire them.

There’s much more to do, and you can count on Michael Moses and David Eby to fight for what matters to people.
